About ASPiR

Accelerating Social Procurement in Roads (ASPiR) is a new resource MRPV is developing to provide their partners in the industry with access to the capability they require to embed social procurement (including inclusive employment) across the entire road construction supply chain and to make it easier for everyone to achieve social procurement outcomes.

The vision for ASPiR is to create sustainable, social change for the communities where MRPV operates that lasts beyond the life of our projects.

The MRPV Social Value and Inclusion (SVI) team are seeking to work collaboratively with the sector to achieve the vision for ASPiR. They have contracted a Consortium for the initial phases of ASPiR made up of Think Impact, ArcBlue, CRSE Group (a social enterprise) and Nerdu Badji Education (an Aboriginal business).

CRSE Group and Nerdu Badji Education will facilitate this focus group.

MRPV want to create opportunities for all organisations working in the civil construction sector to share their views on what these resources should include, how they should be delivered and what would be most useful to help embed social procurement more effectively across their projects.

As a first step, a workshop was held in December 2022 with a cross section of government, contractors, social benefit suppliers, third party intermediaries and employment services to help MRPV design a Roadmap for ASPiR. The ASPiR roadmap aims to capture the vision for change and focus areas and goals to achieve the vision.

Participants of the December workshop fed back that they highly valued the opportunity to come into the room with a diverse group of stakeholders, learn from each other and collectively shape the future of social procurement.

MRPV is now looking to test these learnings with the broader sector, refine the strategies and understand more about what learning and development is needed through these focus groups.
