“Victoria’s social enterprises are proving that inclusive growth, strong communities and sustainable business outcomes can go hand in hand.”

More Support for Victoria’s Social Enterprise Sector

In May of 2026, SENVic welcomed the Victorian Government’s continued investment in Victoria’s social enterprise sector and thank the Victorian Government for recognising the important role social enterprises play in building a more inclusive, sustainable and resilient economy.
The funding will help SENVIC provide practical support to social enterprises across Victoria, with a focus on three key pillars:

Building Sustainable Small Business Foundations

Objective: To strengthen the foundational business capability of early-stage and emerging social enterprises so they can make informed, strategic decisions that lead to long-term sustainability including scaling, collaboration, responsible consolidation, or pivoting of products and services where this represents the most viable pathway to impact, jobs and financial resilience.

Skills, Leadership and Immersive Career Pathways

Objective: Build a pipeline of future-ready small business leaders and workers by connecting young people and emerging leaders to real-world enterprise pathways. This has a direct impact on creating more small businesses in the future, entrepreneurial mindset and capability building and career pathways into social enterprise through volunteering, consulting and jobs in the future.

Demand-Side Engagement, Industry Partnerships and Ecosystem Coordination

Objective: Strengthen the demand side of the small business ecosystem by increasing industry awareness, confidence and engagement with SME social enterprises.

Why does this matter?

Social enterprises are businesses that put people and the planet first – trading to address social or environmental challenges, create employment and training opportunities, strengthen communities and contribute to a more sustainable economy.

SENVIC’s role is to connect, support and develop a thriving social enterprise community in Victoria. We look forward to continuing to work alongside government, industry, enterprise and communities to grow the impact and contribution of social enterprise across Victoria.

Together, we can build a stronger, more connected and more sustainable social enterprise sector – and a Victorian economy that puts people and the planet first.
